General Information
Springton Lake Montessori is a nonprofit preschool and kindergarten. The school is privately owned and was established in 1983. Springton Lake Montessori School is licensed by the Department of Education and is a member of the AMS, American Montessori Society.

The school has four classrooms available to children from 2 to 6 years of age. A full-day kindergarten class is also available. Each classroom has two licensed teachers. Student teachers may also be added to the rooms over the school year. Our program works well with a hardworking and dedicated staff.
  1. The school day begins promptly at 8:30 a.m. The half day session ends at 11:30am and the full day session ends at 3:00 p.m. Extended Hours Available 7:30 a.m to 8:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m to 5:30 p.m. Please remember to pick up your child on time. Children get very restless waiting and often worry.
  2. If you have an occasional situation where you will be delayed, please call to notify the teachers and your child.
  3. If your child is going to be absent from school, please call and notify the school at 356-5610.
  4. Please discourage the children from bringing toys to school.
  5. If you are having a problem concerning your child, feel free to call the school between 3:00 and 4:00 and we will arrange for a conference or discuss the problem on the phone.
  6. Children must be toilet trained. If your child has an occasional accident, we will change them at school. Younger children are to have a spare set of clothing clearly labeled and in a shoe box.
  7. The school may close for snow days or have an early dismissal. Please make sure that you have a backup system if you are not available to take your child. School closing information is available on WPVITV 6 or WPVI.com and WCAV/NBC10 or NBC10.COM
  8. The school does not take field trips. Once or twice a month a program will be invited into the school. For the occasion or for special party days, part time students may switch a day that week or pay for an extra day. On a normal scheduled week, days may not be switched or made up unless special arrangements have been made in advance.
  9. The school runs year round. The school will offer a Summer Session. This is separate from the school year.
  10. SLMS is an equal opportunity provider.
Parent Visits, Reports and Conferences
Written reports will be given out in January. At this time, we would like to encourage parents to come and visit with your child during work time. Parent conferences will be held during the month of January. Written reports will also go out in June.

We welcome parents to come and visit our classroom to observe a Montessori environment in operation. Due to class scheduling and the routine of the day, we ask that you call the office to set up an appointment.

We rely on parents for suggestions and feedback. We need support and participation from everyone. Thank you for your cooperation. We are looking forward to a great beginning.
